Openwave Systems Inc., a global software company delivering context-aware mediation and messaging solutions, has announced that Wataniya Telecom Maldives, a privately owned operator in Maldives, has selected Openwave Integra, a next generation traffic mediation and application policy management solution, Openwave Media Optimizer, an intelligent, content and context-aware media optimization solution that works to automatically trigger optimization when the network reaches pre-determined thresholds and Openwave Web Optimizer, a solution that increases data transfer rates over wireless data networks.
Openwave reported that these traffic management solutions are designed to allow Wataniya to optimize web and video content over their 3G network with the goal of improving the subscriber experience and saving on bandwidth and CAPEX.

Integra is the core platform upon which the Openwave portfolio of service is built. The workflow engine orchestrates a set of mobile internet services that are driven by a rich policy-rules engine, allowing each transaction to be processed based on factors including profiles, device capabilities, content and network type.
Media Optimizer provides mobile network operators with the capability to pre-determine automated actions to be taken as soon the mobile network reaches certain thresholds.
Web Optimizer uses compression, caching and transcoding techniques to increase data transfer rates over wireless data networks while decreasing the amount of traffic flowing over the network.
