NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE) - Mar. 30, 2011-- Independent executive compensation consultant Pearl Meyer & Partners announced the hiring of Shekhar Purohit as a Managing Director and head of the firm's Northern California office. Mr Purohit was previously a Principal and Global Compensation Consulting Leader at Hewitt Associates.

As an advisor to U.S. multinationals on aligning an Asia-Pacific compensation strategy with their global vision, Mr Purohit combines a U.S. perspective on Asia with a solid understanding of U.S. firms from a local, regional and Asian point of view. He has particular experience in the technology sector and has assisted leading Indian and Chinese multinational conglomerates in developing their global, regional, and local total rewards and compensation strategies.

Over the course of his career, Mr Purohit has advised a range of public, private and family-owned companies on compensation and governance issues including total compensation strategy, incentive, program design, performance measurement, and special situation compensation strategies for IPOs, VCs, and restructurings. His clients include companies in financial services, manufacturing, technology, commercial and investment banking, and oil and gas.

Formerly, Mr Purohit was the Chief Operating Officer and a Principal of The Delves Group, where he advised clients on business development and firm and project management issues including ownership structures, turnaround operations and organizational strategies, sales compensation, and compensation competitiveness. He also has held senior positions at Towers Perrin, Sibson Consulting and SCA Consulting.

Mr Purohit is frequently quoted by leading publications and regularly speaks at global conferences on compensation and governance issues. He also serves as a senior advisor to and leader of numerous health-oriented non-profit organizations in India and North America.

A graduate of Northwestern University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Mr Purohit also holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
